it all takes time to hone your skills i guess lol! but it is all based on opinion, if you find yourself in a place where you feel most comfortable with your art, than it doesn't really matter too much if people do or don't like your art! as long as the results make you feel happy ^^

i answered something like this earlier, but now i think i have a more solid answer now!
i look at colors that i really like, and then i see if they'd make good color combos together! (ex: pink and yellow, pink and green, pink and blue, lots of pink lmao)
also, things you have irl are really good inspiration for color palettes! (ex: stuffed animals, posters, or even irl clothes u have!)
