Daybreak S1 Ep4

It had been a week since Blue and her brother Red had moved here, and so far things were going pretty well. She had managed to get a job at a local corner store - despite having almost missed the interview. In retrospect, perhaps setting an alarm half an hour before wasn’t as good an idea as it had first seemed. But she had got the job anyway, so it didn’t matter. Everything was great! Still, though, that encounter with the security guy was playing on her mind. Blue sighed. Red would be home from school soon. He’d said he was bringing his new friend over. She wondered who he was. Hopefully someone nice. Blue made an attempt at cleaning before the guest arrived.

A few minutes later, the doorbell in their apartment rung. Blue wandered over and opened the door - Red was standing there in his uniform next to a small purple dog wearing a backpack. He looked like a nice kid. Blue smiled. Red had a better taste in people than she did, at least... she sighed, thinking of her ex-girlfriend from their old town. It had been obvious to everyone but Blue herself that the manipulative fox she had loved only wanted her money and her apartment to crash in. Damn it, Blue.. don’t think about that now. “Welcome home, Red! And this must be your friend, uhh..”
“Rider.” The boy chipped in. Hmm.. there was something oddly familiar about his voice and face. “Nice to meet you. Wow, nice place...” he looked in through the door. “Better than the pigsty me and my brother live in.” He chuckled. His.. brother? Her mind flicked back to the security guy’s words. ‘Stay away from me and my brother,’ he had said. Yes.. this must be Dash’s brother. Would the green dog approve of him being here? Probably not. But Rider seemed like a good kid, so Blue invited the two students in.
