grrr onto the lore stuff ahaha:
Hypon and Mitzi were actually childhood friends. They got along pretty well together, especially since Hypon was still a normal happy go lucky kid.

Mitzi developed feelings for him overtime, but then once the accident on his 10th birthday happened, their relationship drifted apart. Hypon was becoming extremely anti social, and Mitzi was too concerned with her own problems to talk to him again.

It wasn't until the year that Comet came that they interacted with each other again, and in that same year they dated.

But even with all of this, Hypon still struggles deeply with his mental health, and has attempted to take his own life multiple times. But being in a relationship with Mitzi has been stopping him from successfully doing so. He doesn't want to suffer any longer in this world, but he also doesn't want to leave Mitzi alone.
