What’s the point of names?? And why do parents get to choose them?

Like if you give your kid a name that means “kindness” then that’s kinda forcing that trait onto your child
My mom named me after my dead sister and that’s kinda rude because it feels like I’d deprives me of my own identity, like I’m supposed to be her replacement
That’s why I’m changing my name to Ashton lmao,

Changing it because I wanna be my androgynous, I want to feel like a separate entity, and I want to spite my mom lmao

I have some backup names too, Scott in Vincent
Stfu I liked FNaF and these names are neat to me
If I get tired of Ashton, which I don’t think I will, I’m going with Vincent.

But again, what’s the point of names?? And why are they permanent?
Why can’t I wake up one day and say “my name is now Tim” and then go along with my day being called Tim??
Like I get it, identification, but why can’t last and middle names be used for that instead of first so that we can’t change our first names whenever?
