i almost died in minecraft hardcore

i went into lava in the nether and i only have 1 food source: "dried kelp"
btw dried kelp is a bad food souce that gives you half hunge bar
and i eatt it, finally i stopped burning and there was 4 health (2 hearts) left. I was shocked and i came to the overworld to get some food lol
also my house is at a "stone shore" biome, it's really hard to find a single animal.
