alright, start it off, mitski is POC. mitski is a japanese-american.

if you’re going to start, i need you to understand if you are white, you’re not gonna resonate with the damn song. you’re not the song. you are a listener.
please. you can listen to mitski of course! but god. do not alter the original meaning of the song. please. mitski is for POC, mostly BIPOC. mitski’s music is for first generation POC. first generation POC btw is first generation to live in america or not sure, another definition im seeing is children of immigrants. her music is of a WOC struggling in a westernized, white society. changing the meaning is a spit in the face. social media did that, let me say an example.

strawberry blonde from her album “retired from sad, new career in business” this song is about a WOC struggling with the beauty standard. the beauty standard is white women. non POC then changed this song to cottagecore, strawberry cow shit. “im the strawberry blonde!!” if ur white and a woman, yea. that’s not a flex though.

next one, me and my husband from her album “be the cowboy” white ppl used this song to romanticize abuse.

while mitski has said her

end note but plz if u can! i totally recommend mitski, her music is quite beautifully written, you can feel the pain of it through the songs, she is POC herself, so of course she covers the topics great, I have fallen in love with her music over the summer. i dont know what i am but ik I’m not the target audience but i listen to her music, listening to POC voices. anyways, i love her music, give a listen if you’re interested
