Why do people keep saying "Follow me and I'll follow you back'

I just don't really think it's right to cheat your way into
getting followers like isn't this app supposed to be if you like my drawings then you can follow me so you get updated when I post. Not just so you get popular by cheating. Honestly if I ever started to say that I want you all to tell me I am doing so. I really don't want to hurt Ur feelings if you do this but I don't think and of the people who get on popular this weak eg. Mochi or MinerMaster would do that, they got into their position with hard work. If you agree make this a trend. Tell me if y'all agree or not in the comments plz 💜

yeah but it's the mostly the new people who's doing that. They might not know that or think otherwise. That's why I think this "trend" isn't fair or good at all.
