Chapter 18

When Stem had returned she came over to us and silently sat down. She stared at the ground for a long period of time before speaking again. Craterday had begun to pace waiting for her to explain what she obviously wanted to say. Leaf had begun to talk with the wolves that live here and learn about some of the new herbs to her.
“I’m sorry it took so long for me to come through the tunnel.” As she started to explain, Leaf and Craterday came over to listin. “I have an interesting quest given to me from the overall alphas of the Go Getters pack.”
“And you accepted it didn’t you?” Craterday asked her not giving her time to explain any further.
Stem looked down and mumbled “Yes, it’s something I’ve never done. I thought we could all do it together.” Craterday growled and said something that I couldn’t hear but the way Leaf flinched back I’d assume nothing polite.
“Well where are we going? I know it’s in the Real World and most likely not my pack but it still seems like something super exciting.” Leaf gave a little squeal of delight, which seemed to temporarily change Craterdays anger to an annoyed happiness.
“Well it’s a male, human. He is in highschool, the final stage of them being tyros.” I think she knew that she’d have to explain what some terms of man was. “ When we go through the portal we’ll become man I have friends who went ahead a while ago to get things ready for just me to all of us. There’s more than one family that we’ll be living with, one’s a farmer, one’s a shop owner, and the last one’s a waitress at a restaurant. If we all go two of us will become siblings and we’ll all have to change our names for a small time.” Leaf seemed thrilled at this option, Craterday looked like he had no care or thought on this, and I was actually interested in what a human does.
“ I’ll go with you Stem.” Leaf says not long after Stem explains everything. I nod in agreement. Me and Leaf were going, what about Craterday?
“ White Ghost, do I ever hate my curiosity. I’ll go as well, just don't expect me to be all that talkative to the humans. “ He answers after a time of listening to crickets in the distance.
“Great I’ll let them know tonight to meet us in the park, I’ll explain later what that is and what everything else is. Also we’ll turn into the age that we need to be in order to go into the school.” At that Stem walks away with Leaf and they go to sleep. Craterday shakes his head and joins a brown wolf on watch. I walked around feeling restless for a while before joining Stem and Leaf where they were sleeping besides much of this pack.

When I woke the following morning it was clear to me that Craterday never joined us that night, Stem and Leaf were still asleep. I stand up and stretch not knowing what to do. It wasn’t dawn yet and the stars still showed brightly. Standing up I start asking where he went. I figured I could talk with him for a bit before the others woke. Only one wolf saw where he went so following the directions as best as I could. I started down another tunnel except this one was even darker than the outside and the tunnel I was in at some points.
In the distance I could hear some wolves but not yet understand what they were saying. Slowly making my way forward not being able to see very far ahead. I was able to make out some of what they were saying. The tunnel closed behind me and someone pushed me to the side. putting a paw on my throat and mouthing the word ‘shut up’. I stayed quiet like this wolf had said and the cave with no way to leave now became Infurum but a part I have never seen. Not in my dreams and not the time Craterday took us through the portal.
Underneath my paws the ground became a rock lava flooring. Lava beneath the rock but plenty of cracks still. The walls were more of a rigid red rock and the roof was the same color but had rock spikes coming down. The wolf that told me to be silent was a dominant black with white ear and muzzle tips wolf. She dips her head to me.
“Sorry for attacking you like that but Monzel had to make sure that there was complete silence in order to open up this place. Oh and I’m Quink. This place is,” Both of us were pushed out of the way before she s]could finish her sentence.
“Look out!” someone else called from somewhere. I hear a small laugh from behind me.
“Well as Quink was saying, this is where we half demons meet with their family that made them this.” I turn and see Craterday behind me. “Now unless you want to be crushed I’d come with me.” We follow Craterday as he runs around the rock spikes that were falling to the ground. We make it to another tunnel, red colored rock and the same flooring as it was when we were in the open. That’s it, I’m so done with tunnels. We go through one and we leave then back through another. I swear if we go through another tunnel I’m going to lose it!
“So you meet with the half of your family that makes you a demon here? Is it only here that you can meet them? Wait, is that why you entered the volcano in the first place?” I admit it, I sound like Leaf right now. Question after question after question started coming to me.
“ Yes, I don’t think so I’m sure there's more places, and no yes.” He answers shortly and keeps leading us through the stupid tunnel.
“ He’s not usually short tempered with short answers all the time is he?” Quink asks me. She most likely wasn’t used to Craterdays attitude. I nodded so she knew he was mostly like this. “ Wow, I never met a wolf who was so short tempered.”
“Yeah just keep talking like I’m not here, that’s fine.” He says sarcastically. “ And we’re through the tunnel.” We exit and it looked almost exactly like the place I entered at. Rock spikes from the roof as well. Except that there were some demons walking around. A few looked over to the group of all of us here and some came over. A wolf with red eyes came over to Craterday. As he came over I could see his dark brown pelt like his as well as the same body shape that Craterday had. Well let me resay that, Craterday had the same body shape as him. A completely black wolf with dark green eyes came over to Quink.
“ Craterday, long time no see my son.” Craterday’s father says to him he looked pleased to see him. He turns to me, “Who's this?”
“Well Jasja, that’s Coil. He’s one of my friends. It also hasn’t been that long for you. It’s been longer for me. Think about it, three years is twenty-seven days here.” He points out to his father matter of factly.
“ Hello Jasja, Craterday looks a lot like you.” Quinks mother says to him after greeting her pup.
“I look exsactly like him.” Craterday mumble growls. “ Anyone who sees my mother wouldn’t know she was my mother.” His father gives him a look and turns back to Quinks mother.
“Don’t mind him, he never was much of one to meet new wolves. Did you know he helped Lert and Neako at one point, I was so proud!” Jasja tells her. I knew the part about him not liking to meet new wolves wasn’t true. He loved juging them, like a lot.
“ Say, Darline why don’t we leave you to talk with Jasja and we go leave. Bye.” Quink says and nuges us away. Craterday tense and me wanting questions on why we were leaving after that was mentioned. We get back to where we origonally entered this place and go through a portal. Though somehow all the Rock Spikes that fell were all magicaly on the roof again. When we step through the portal I could see light coming in the cave-tunnel thing. It had to be close to Noon High from the sun rays that shown in.
As we exsited the cave Stem and Leaf came over to us. “They said you guys went somewhere through a portal in here. We desided to wait for you to come out. Anyhow we should get going to the Real Word if we want some time to know the town. Also we’ll be ther a moon cycal before going to the school, just to help us learn to be a human.” Stem greets us and explains some of the stuff that I nor Craterday realy cared about.
“Whatever, just don’t expect me to use human turms.” Craterday growled. “Come with me I’ll show you a place you can open the portal.” He takes us back into the cave that opened up into the place where I met his father and Quinks mother. Walking us back to a corner of it he points to the wall. “ You can make it there.”
Stem steps up to the corner and opens her portal to the Real World. “Alright lets go through.”
Stem goes in first followed by Lef, then I go, soon followed by Craterday. Her portals was night sky like and calming to. Great choice for a portal when entering a diffrent world. At times it can take much longer than it is ment to.
