Right now I am 13 but turning 14 in oct

I keep seeing ppls grades in their bios like "7th" n "8th" while I am in 9th,, like I'm not gonna unfollow or block anyone it's just confusing, either im older or the American school system is different from mine, I remember one time my ex friend said he was supposed to be in 7th when I was in 8th, sooo???
