this one time my friend told me I looked gay

Apparently having purple hair is a gay thing????? Bc y'all don't know what I look like irl you wouldnt know that I have my tips dyed purple and it fades into my natural brown color. My friend was playing with my hair and told my I look gay because of the purple. Anyone have any advice on how not to look gay -_-
