Maybe you should unfollow him too since you want to defend someone who's homophobic and disrespecting another users wishes.

Jake asked him to unfollow him but he refused to and blocked him. If he hates homosexuals, he shouldn't have a problem with unfollowing one.

It's not like he'd die if he was following him either
