Today is good Friday!! (Long text)
For those of you who don't know what good Friday is- actually there's some context first.
So yesterday was the day of the last supper. That was the last time Jesus got to be with his deciples. Meanwhile, Judas(one of the disciples) dips out of the dinner to go tattle to the roman guards and the priests at the time who wanted Jesus dead. Jesus and his disciples are in the Garden of Gethsemane(geth sem an ee). So Judas betrays Jesus and comes back with the bad guys and Jesus, Peter, and John are in the garden. The bad guys take Jesus, interrogate him, best him up, and make him carry his own cross to the place where they're going to crucify him. So he's hanging on the cross. And there are two criminals hanging beside him. One guy says "you and I both know that you are who you say you are. Get yourself and me off of this cross!" So he's basically trying to tell Jesus to stop doing what he's doing. What he was doing was the only way that we could be with him. He died on the cross, taking the crushing weight of all human sin, past, present, and future, and he left it there. He came back, and LEFT the sin so that we could be with him. The day that we celebrate him coming back up is Easter, and that's actually what the holiday was supposed to be about! (I have no idea where the bunny came from 🤔)
