The Talking Cat—Chapter 1

Rachel read silently as she pet her purring cat, Chloe. She had named Chloe after her favorite character from The Bloodthirsty Banterclaw, Chloe Tick.

Suddenly, Chloe's ear twitched and she woke up. "What is it, Chloe?" Asked Rachel, as if her cat would understand. Chloe just said, "mew," and hopped off the couch.

"Wait! Where are you going?" Asked Rachel as Chloe zoomed to the door which led to the dreaded basement where her brother lived. "You want to go in there?"

Chloe just clawed at the door, and Rachel sighed. "Oh, well." And she opened the door. As soon as she did, her black and white cat rushed through the entrance.

It was dark down there so Rachel deducted that James must be at Sonic flipping burgers. She switched on the light and saw Chloe sitting in James's drawer. Rachel chuckled and picked her up.

As always, Chloe acted like a sack of potatoes.

"Put me down!" Screeched Chloe. Rachel quickly dropped her cat on the floor.

"H-how are you talking?" Rachel stuttered.

"Well, I drank this blue potions that was in your brother's drawer...now I can talk."

Rachel fainted.
