One day, Anastasia decided to cook some borscht for her German friend, Gretta. Anastasia heard a knock upon the door. Before she could get to it, it swung open. “Hallo!” In came Gretta. “I brought some sausage and kraut!” Gretta was always yelling. “Kraut?” Anastasia asked. “Ya, sauerkraut! Fermented cabbage!” Answered Gretta. Anastasia wrinkled her nose, “eck.” Gretta set her food roughly on the table, “ready to eat?!” Anastasia nodded, still unsure about the sauerkraut. She ate her sausage, but was hesitant about the cabbage. Gretta put a big spoonful if borscht in her mouth… and immediately spat it out. “That is disgusting!” She said. Then, they both started laughing. The two friends had very different taste buds. Gretta finished the sauerkraut and couldn’t stop burping. Anastasia ate the rest of the borscht and got a stomachache. When they finished eating, they tried to play a game, but they couldn’t agree on one, so they just talked instead. “How is Hans?” Anastasia asked. “Oh, you know. Same old, same old!” Shouted Gretta. “If I have a child they’ll be well disciplined.” Vowed Anastasia. “I’m sure they will.” Murmured Gretta. At the end of the day, Anastasia hugged her departing friend, “see you!” Gretta wiped a tear and said, “ya! You too.”
