Forgotten Bloody Battle in the Philippines | The Battle of Leyte & Southern Leyte |

The Battle of Leyte, Known in Waray “Gubat sa Leyte” was one of the Bloodiest Conflicts and most Horrifying Battles in World War 2. The Battles on The Island such as The Battle of Ormoc Bay, Battle of Baybay, Battle of Palo, and Battle of Tacloban were certainly costly and Horrifying for American and Pilipino forces. My Grandfather who was a Guerilla in the Battle described it as “Pure torture from God”. Leyte today is still known for the MacArthur Landing, not the Battle but it still needs to be remembered that Leyte is a Bloodbath for American, Filipino, and Japanese Forces. Battles such as Ormoc Bay were deadly because of the heavy bombardment of the American Sea and Air Forces. Japanese Counter Attacks and Charges made the Battle on the Island so horrifying it made Pilipino Guerrilla's to Quit. Massacres were inflicted on the Island as well by the Japanese Forces sparing no mercy to their Enemy. But it shouldn't be forgotten that the Statues of Jesus in Memorial Parks and Public Areas we're from World War 2. There are Pictures from the Government of Ormoc depicting Jesus Christ covered with Tarpon. So I have said Leyte is a Bloodbath for American, Filipino, and Japanese Troops.
