HMHS Britannic | “Ship Designed for War” | Part 2
At First, it was thought that the RMS Britannic would be turned into an Armed Merchant Vessel but that idea came into question. Because of how massive the RMS Britannic was and the higher risk of sinking in Battle. Instead, the Royal Navy requisition smaller ships leaving RMS Britannic still constructed in Belfast. Eventually, as the War reached the Eastern Mediterranean the need for Ships was getting very critical. In 1915 RMS Britannic completed her Engine Trials and was given four-week notice for an emergency entrance and disservice. News of the sinking of RMS Lusitania signifies the first Ocean Liner sinking in the War. The RMS Britannic was originally going to be a Troopship in the Gallipoli Campaign along with RMS Mauretania and RMS Aquitania but with Casualties rising the need for Hospital Ships was rises because of this in November 1915, RMS Britannic along with RMS Aquitania was requisitioned as a Hospital Ship. The Ship was immediately sent out meaning not everything was completed. Most of the Unfinished parts of the Ship were not required for a Hospital Ship and all it matters was all of the necessary parts were finished and that was all that mattered. The RMS Britannic was colored Red, Green, and Yellow. And was converted into a Hospital Ship.
