Control of the New Cunard White Star Line was determined by the tonnage. This was unfortunate for White Star Line as they recently sold a number of their Vessels in an Attempt to alleviate their Debt. This meant that Cunard Line would have 62% of the New Company and effectively take control. Most of the White Star Line's Vessels were scrapped including the RMS Olympic and the RMS Majestic which was the Largest Vessel in the World. The Only Oceanliners at Service we're RMS Laurentic, MV Georgic, and the MV Britannic. The Two Motor Vessels were transferred from London to New York Route in April 1935. As a New Company began to improve, the MV Britannic Popularity grew even Competing with the United States and France. By 1938 the MV Britannic reached 75% Of the Vessel's Capacity. But on August 27, 1939, with War only a few days away everything changed for the MV Britannic when the Vessel was requisitioned by the British Government and converted as a Troopship in Southampton. The Vessel's First Mission was sailing towards Bombay, India, and was refitted and resumed Commercial Service. And in 1940, MV Britannic carried large Refugees from Central Europe to North America. These Voyages also carried several British and Canadian Officials considerable efforts were taken to keep the vessel's location a secret. Though the Neutral United States continued to publish the Vessels Schedule. By August 1940, MV Britannic was again requisitioned as a Troopship, The Vessel sailed Multiple Voyages to South Africa and India. The MV Britannic's initial Capacity was 3,000 Troops but it was increased to 5,000 Troops. During World War 2, the MV Georgic was attacked by a German Bomber and Sank during a German Raid on Egypt. Despite the Vessel's Extensive Damage, the Vessel was salvaged and eventually returned to service. While MV Georgic was badly Damaged, The MV Britannic remained Undamaged after the War. Throughout World War 2 the MV Britannic sailed 324,792 Nautical Miles and Carried 173,550 Troops to Europe. MV Britannic played a Major Role in the Invasion of Normandy by Carrying 20,000 US Troops to France.
