What happened to Asriel? - Major spoilers

So this is just gonna inform you about how Asriel turned into... flowey.

Long ago, Chara (the first fallen human) and Asriel became best friends. The Dreemuurs took them in. Chara and Asriel were best friends. One night, Chara became I'll. The Human was about to perish. Asriel asked for their last wish, which was to barry them in their home village, before they fell down, by the flowers. Asriel took the human soul of Chara and turned into "a being of great strength." Both of them cross the barrier. Humans haven't seen a monster ever since the war broke out, so they start attacking. Asriel lays down the human child (i think) and runs back into the underground. Asriel shows up at the front door of the Dreemuurs and basically barley clinging onto life. Before he could enter, he faded into dust. The dust spread across the garden bed, and now Asriel is a flower. Flowey has no soul, so thats why he feels nothing. He doesn't feel bad for his actions. Until the genocide... i don't know how he feels that feeling.

I think Alphys had something to do with it, like with determination. I don't know though.
