August 8-9, 1942 Battle of Savo Island | USS Quincy (Under Fire)

The Battle of Savo Island was the worst defeat of the US Navy by a Naval Midnight Attack led by Vice Admiral Gunichi Mikawa of the Japanese Fleet. Who bombarded the American and Australian with 5 Heavy Cruisers, 2 Light Cruisers, and a Single Destroyer. While the Combined Australian and American Forces had 6 Heavy Cruisers, 2 Light Cruisers, and 15 Destroyers.

The result of the Battle was a Major Japanese Victory sinking 3 Heavy Cruisers, 1 Heavy Cruiser Scuttled, 1 Heavy Cruiser Damaged, and 2 Destroyers Damage on the Night Attack and The Japanese only suffered 2 Heavy Cruiser Damage and 1 Light Cruiser Damaged.
