The bonuses in PAC-MAN aren't random fruit but are actually based on specific slot machine prices
There are slot machines that would give you fruit flavoured gum if you line specific icons up, they had flavours like cherry, lemon, grape and cantaloupe.
Why they chose that sorta thing to be their bonuses is beyond me but it is kinda cool
