Why is peach such a "baddie" in the new Mario Movie?

Same question that keeps on popping up.
I don't really know because in almost all the Mario games she's scared and can't do anything and waits until Mario saves her,
But in this one, she's the one that was saving Mario.
Plus she has alot more confidence now.
