What happened to this Lava:

Some random scientists were working on something. They tried making some sort of creature similar to Sonic the Hedgehog from the 1991 game, but it was a melting purple DoodleBlob with Sonic's head spikes. This deformed and melted creature was named, Lava. Still has the same Lava you all know, just sadder and physically/ mentally broken.
