My Country is drowning in English.. (Read Desc)
Meron ako naranasan sa mga kaklase at sa mga kaibigan ko na parang marihap sila maintindihan kung ang ibig sabihin ang mga salita nakikita nila at nagmula sa Lengguwaheng Filipino..
I have experienced that my classmates and my friends looked like they don't understand about what the words mean in the Filipino Language, even though they literally live in a Tagalog Speaking nation.. Well, I think I'm gonna write a whole paragraph about this, but I'll keep it short. I'm not so skilled in grammar and vocabulary when it comes to Tagalog, but as a Manila Person myself, I guess this is a huge problem for my country, which is why it's hugely exposed to the Internet and Social Medias. The students often request me what does the word mean in Tagalog and I decided to respond back saying I didn't know the word means in Tagalog because I came from a area where Tagalog Speaking is common and times when I only speak Tagalog not English or Bisaya. The students sometimes get 75% or 78% in their grade rather than 85% or 95% in their grade.
I realized that most of the subjects in schools only use English, and only two of them were Tagalog: Filipino and A.P., only in specific schools. Maybe the huge reason for this is the Internet. The Americans are the Number 1 producer of content that makes people entertained in other countries. Maybe the students are not interested in watching videos from their own country and start watching videos from America, which produce high-quality videos that they like. People in areas are constantly reminded to be good at English because it is also the 2nd official language in the country.
I think this is a huge problem because it can lead to problems understanding the Filipino Language and understanding the complicated Words. We need to make sure that our students are learning and understanding the Grammar and Vocabulary in the Tagalog Language, especially if they are living in a Tagalog-speaking nation. Maybe we can do this by making Filipino a more prominent language in schools and by encouraging students to consume Filipino media and Filipino culture and stuff and watch Filipino speaking in Popular video games like that. And also fix their Low Grades and Academic in subjects that use the Filipino Language. So I'm just trying my best to understand the Language I had since Grade 6.
