Oh now I know why people hate furries

Reasons why people hate furries can be categorised into two main groups: traditional and modern.

Traditional:

It was one of the first internet fandoms to arise. If I know anything about internet fandoms, it’s that they’re the cringiest and most hated fandoms out there. Back when the furry fandom was getting started, it was one of a kind, being one of the few fandoms to exist mainly on the internet. Nowadays, the fandom shares the internet with many other fandoms (bronies, anime fans, gamers), so any hate that people hold towards internet fandoms are less focused on furries alone, and instead distributed from hater to hater among the different fandoms out there.
“That one episode of CSI.” Portrayal of furries in old media has generally been negative. I think most people here know of how harmful CSI’s portrayal was to the fandom’s image, and the fandom is still healing from that wound.
Leading on from that last point, the old media’s portrayal depicts furries as sex maniacs who are sexually attracted to animals and giant costumes. This is a very dangerous stereotype! Usually I like to joke about stereotypes, but I rarely make jokes about these furry stereotypes.
Social conservatives. Ever since civilisation began, there have always been some people who have rejected change of any kind. Furries are seen as a change since they came along with the internet, and their general viewpoints are very liberal. This doesn’t make it easy for some people to accept that sort of change.
Modern:

Rule 34: If it exists, there is porn of it. Sexualising anything beyond a penis or a vagina automatically results in a large amount of people hating you. It’s just a fact of internet life. Since NSFW art is present in the fandom at worryingly high amounts, people will most definitely find it and assume that all furries get turned on by this.
Even being a ‘clean’ furry is still seen as weird. Spending a fortune on a fursuit, devoting your life to drawing or making costumes of humanoid animals, being a furry is a peculiar hobby/lifestyle to have. People’s natural reactions are to fear it because it’s weird. In this sense, we can educate them about what the fandom means to us, but in the end, everyone has a unique perception of what they consider acceptable.
There’s the good art…and then there’s the bad art. Even as a furry, I can still admit when a drawing or a fursuit is done badly. And when furry art is done badly, it looks creepy instead of cute. This creepy factor to artwork puts people off from the fandom a lot.
And even if a fursuit is cute, people might still be creeped out by it. Your mouth doesn’t move when you talk, your eyes never blink, the general unnaturalness of the fursuit, these things make even some furries creeped out by them!
A large amount of furries are socially awkward. This inability to communicate their thoughts and feelings on the fandom makes others think that they’re fucked up in the head or something. Sadly, they will apply this thought to other furries, so it leads them to think that all furries are fucked up in the head. I have autism, so I know what that feels like, but just because I have autism doesn’t mean that everyone else does!
Some furries are butthurt and proud. When some furries see some form of hate, instead of responding a calm manner using logical arguments, they lose their marbles and start shouting (or typing in all-caps) things like “NO SHUT UP FURRIES ARE THE BEST!” No, furries aren’t the best if you keep acting like that. This immaturity just leads to a vicious cycle of people hating even more because of how butthurt said furry is, and then the furry responds with more yelling, and it keeps spiralling out of control.
Furries might be a threat to others’ love for animals. This is my personal hypothesis, but like some men hating gay men because they threaten their masculinity, some people might hate furries because they threaten their love for animals. The thing is, they’re failing to distinguish between real animals and anthropomorphic animals. It’s an irrational fear that furries will somehow project their furriness onto them. Yes, being a furry is a choice, unlike being gay, but it’s a choice that a person can consciously make with their own head.
I think I covered most reasons, but there is a whole plethora of other reasons that I left out, simply because this answer would get too long!(copied it from Google)
