Infection episode 3

In this episode we see purple and red walking not saying anything but on one scene we do see another infected and red handled it and another scene we see purple with a gun why couldn’t he use it? Did he already use it? Well the second one I said about did he use it is already answered cuz at the end I could hear a shot so did he kill red?
