What is going on in the DSMP fandom right now?

For the past few days my fyp has been flooded with memes and news about Dream’s crash out on stream and what shit he has been posting on Twitter. I have always thought that Dream was kinda weird and probably wasn’t the best person, but calling Tommy’s fans a SLUR?!?? Saying you’re homophobic on stream?.. I’m so confused atm. I wouldn’t exactly say I was a giant DSMP fan back in 2021, I just saw snippets of them on my tik tok page feom time to time, saw their videos pop up on YouTube. I kinda knew who they were, but not exactly.
