Need advice

So I was thinking about getting a digital camera for my birthday, bit I know nothing about them..
If there is anyone on this app that knows a thing or two aboyt cameras, maybe I could get some reccomendations? I have heard that Sony and Canon cameras are good, but idk the difference between them and their models/versions.

I’m looking for a pocketable one, no profesional phorography, just for making memories and taking pictures. What I’m looking for is : good quality pics, ability to both record and take photos and being able to adjust different settings
