Pictured: ( mushroom like thing: ) fungus vitae, ( line thing ) radix longa.
These two have a symbiotic relationship. When the high dust storms on this planet start up ( fast enough to wipe something out if not anchored or underground ), the tube thing does not have proper roots, so they anchor onto the vitae's, and in return for the vitae's help, they give it nutrients siphoned from the inside of the radix.
