the anomaly is that it spreads from person to person, a feeling of need and want that i imagine is similar to wxthdrawl symptoms inflicting the victim until they find someone to spread the curse to. the curse is the typical antimemetic affect - everyone forgets about you, cant hold on to memories of you for too long, can be blocked out temporarily w/ mnestics, etc. the feeling of need goes away after spreading it, but the antimemetic effect doesn't go away
