Indigenous people are still here!! they very much exist and they know their history. This history contains the slaughter and effort of trying to wipe out MULTIPLE tribes. No matter how hard you guys try to brush over and gentrify the holiday, the history will always prevail. You are actively celebrating genocide when celebrating any type of festivities tied to that masscre of thousands of indigenous peoples. There were natives killed and it was celebrated, it was then made into a holiday by abraham lincoln who was OPENLY anti indigenous!!
their land was stolen, their culture is worn and it is exploited while natives suffer on reservations that are not/barely livable. the least you guys can do is understand and acknowledge the history. your guys familys dry bland turkey and casserole is not as important as the genocide of indigenous people and truth of this holiday And thats just common sense.. Nobodys saying you cant eat together. You dont NEED a holiday to eat with family for the record. i know a lot of folks take the opportunity to get together with their families in the u.s due to most jobs giving them time off my family gathers to celebrate our indigenous family and to remember those theyve/weve lost. it is so important to understand what thanksgiving truly "celebrates" take the time to learn the history behind the so called holiday
