Daybreak S1 Ep8

It was coming up to 8:30pm. Red had said goodbye to Rider, who promised to come back tomorrow. Their smiles had faded so quickly when he had to go back to his older brother. Blue felt bad for both of them, and knew that she had to try and talk to Dash. Red walked up to the doorstep alone again, and looked up at her darkly. He pressed the apartment buzzer thing and Blue let him in. ‘He’s home safe at least. The question is whether he feels safe at home.’ She muttered to herself. She’d go and try to negotiate with the sour green dog tommorow for sure.

THE NEXT DAY

The boys were at school now, and Blue had the day off work. (She only worked part-time. Blue had had a considerably better job at their old home, but for the time being she just needed something to scrape together enough to live off of.)
Taking a deep breath, she crossed over the street and pressed the buzzer thing on Dash’s apartment block. She pushed the door open. He’d let her in first try? That was surprising. Blue rapped on B11, Dash’s apartment. He opened the door, and his face fell as soon as he saw her. ‘Who let you in?’ He snarled. Blue tried not to smirk as she replied,
‘You did.’
‘I thought you were the delivery person. Go away.’ His tone was getting harsher with every word. Blue met his eyes. So that’s how we were going to play this, is it? ‘I don’t think I will. There’s something I need to talk to you about.’ Blue said. Dash snarled.
‘It’s about Ride-’ His face dropped. Pure anger and fear lit up his eye. Blue had said the wrong thing. She took a step back nervously. ‘YOU STAY AWAY FROM HIM!’
‘LOOK, I’M ONLY TRYING TO HELP BOTH OF YOU!’
‘THAT’S WHAT THEY ALL SAY! YOU’RE A DANGER TO HIM!’
Blue’s frustration was immeasurable, this idiot! Urgh, why can’t he see what he’s doing!? ‘YOU’RE THE DANGER!’
She knew as soon as the words had fallen out of her mouth that she had crossed the line. Dash stepped back also, like a scared child. He looked stunned. Composing himself, he hissed with fury, ‘Get out of here and never come back.’ Slamming the door in her face, he refused to talk any more. Blue reluctantly left, knowing that she had only made things worse. She saw the boys on the street, laughing and hugging, guilt filling her head to toe.

(it’s really angsty and it’s going to stay angsty for a while, but worry not cause wholesome fluff oneshot thingies will be a fairly common occurrence >:333)
