Diary of a Kite Apocalypse Survivor

Dear Diary,
I knew it from the day I got that scar. I said that if the kites take over, mine would be the leader. Wouldn’t you know it, the kite apocalypse started 5 years after that day and my sun-moon kite was flying high, leading them to revolution. Thank goodness I wasn’t flying a kite that day. Let me start from the beginning, it was Kite Flight for Sight day. I had gotten my driver’s license a month ago, so I happily drove my brother to the event to support him. I was watching his sky dancer fly when I heard a voice on the intercom. It was talking about the kites rising up and bringing revolution upon the humans. I was gaining tension and my palms were getting sweaty. I had reassured myself it was all just a prank until I heard “We’re coming for you, Aspen” and a giant army of kites flew up with my sun-moon kite leading the way. I grabbed my brother’s kite, flung it away from us, and ran off with him to the car. By the time we got to my vehicle, I looked behind us and saw kites lifting people off the ground.

I started the car and sped off. I thought back to those many years ago where I predicted this and everyone laughed at me. I drove into our driveway and pulled Jameson in. I got our best scissors and lighters and made sure we had enough food to survive a month. We hid under our tables and waited. It’s been a week now and my brother had gone scouting a few hours ago. He hasn’t come back. I’m debating whether I should go find him or stay here. Hope this isn’t my last entry.
