If u chose to stay, u died, the loud shreak u heard was from someone seeing the monster lighting their cabin on fire as a destraction, so it could get anybody who stayed back in the cabin alone, and kill them, if u chose to go check, u live another day....till tomorrow, when u will be tested once again...
