So a big thing is practicing. Practice, practice, and practice. Because you won’t get better if you don’t practice drawing.

Next is getting a grasp on the rules. Such as stretch and squash. Also learning just art components and what they are. Such as line, shape, color, value, texture, form, and space.

In high school if you’re still thinking about being an animator, get into art classes. If they offer an animation class take it. You’ll also want to start a portfolio so colleges can look at what you bring to the table.

If your school doesn’t offer animating classes I’m sure there’s some tutorials online and I’m sure there’s got to be some classes in the community.
