Man, do I get carried away with writing a lot

(Part 2)
Campioncloud walked quickly out of the elder's den, searching the camp until he found Mallowfur lying in the sun, talking with Blackbriar. He quickened his pace then stopped in front of the two warriors. "Oh, hello Campioncloud. Is something wrong?" Blackbriar asked. "Erm, well... I'm quite worried about Mothpaw." Campioncloud began, but Blackbriar interrupted, "Oh, did he do something? Should he be in trouble? What did he do-" "No no, nothing like that, Blackbriar. Let me explain," Campioncloud replied quickly. "He seems a bit down. And I was hoping that you, Mallowfur, could talk it out with him. I would do it myself, but I'm not as good as you are."

"Oh no no, it's not that. The prey is perfect, I was just gonna say something... but it's not that important. No need to worry Mothpaw." Campioncloud said quickly. He looked out the den quickly, hoping to catch a glimpse of Mallowfur so he could talk to her immediately, but he couldn't see her. Campioncloud looked back at Mothpaw and said, "I'll be right back, I have to go do something really quick."

"Nothing to worry about, Mothpaw. He's just worried about you because he's seen you were a bit sad." Yellowstream said, not looking up from the rabbit, then continued eating.

"Oh yes, very good Mothpaw. Thank you so much." Campioncloud replied, dragging the huge rabbit between him and Yellowstream for them to share. Campioncloud opened his mouth as if he was going to ask something, but he shook his head and began eating. Maybe I'll just leave him alone, there are better cats for this job anyway, Campioncloud thought. Then he thought about asking Mallowfur to try and help him, he knew she was way better at this than any other cat.

As Mothpaw walked out, the two elders looked at eachother. They could see that something was wrong. "Do you think we should ask him what's wrong?" Campioncloud whispered to Yellowstream once Mothpaw was far enough away. "I don't know. I'm not good with this stuff. Maybe just leave him alone, he can figure it out himself." Yellowstream replied. Campioncloud looked at his friend with doubt, but he decided to keep silent. Maybe he'll just try to offer Mothpaw a story to cheer him up.

"Oh, thank you Mothpaw." Campioncloud said, as the two elders got out of their nests and sat beside their nests to allow Mothpaw to change the moss. They weren't able to hear Mothpaw's rumbling stomach, but Yellowstream noticed the face he made and asked, "What's with that face?" Does he think that we smell bad? Yellowstream thought.

"Well, I'll let you get back to your sleep then. You'll need it for tomorrow so you can be more alert." Blackbriar said before heading back out of the den. Skipperface looked down at her paws, mad at herself because she forgot something so important. She felt heavy with sleepiness, and laid her head in her nest, and fell asleep.

Campioncloud and Yellowstream were sat in their nests, talking about old times with the wolves. They noticed Mothpaw come in and greeted him. "How's it going, Mothpaw, Whatcha in here for?" Campioncloud asked.

"I'm sorry, I forgot, I really did. If I'd have remembered, I wouldn't have suggested changing bedding." Skipperface explained. Blackbriar only rolled her eyes and replied, " That is no excuse for putting your own apprentice in danger of wolves. WOLVES! How could you forget it if it happened a few moments ago? In your patrol too!" "I don't know!" Skipperface quickly answered, " I mean maybe it's just been a long day for me, but I just don't even know. I was trying to cheer Mothpaw up by giving him a different task since he wanted to be on patrol today." Blackbriar sighed," just please try to be more careful, and aware, next time, or at least go with him with another warrior. We were lucky that the wolves haven’t smelled him by the time we got there."

Blackbriar lead the way back to camp, keeping alert for any sign of danger. After a little while, they managed to get back to camp. A few cats in the camp had noticed them, and they had confused and worried faces as they came through the entrance. Before trying to find Skipperface, Blackbriar motioned Mothpaw to the elders den, walking off right after. She found Skipperface in the warriors den, pretending to sleep. "Skipperface, I know you're pretending to sleep." Blackbriar said, nudging Skipperface with a paw. Skipperface immediately gave up with a sigh, and reluctantly met Blackbriar's gaze.

"Yes, we do all make mistakes, but sleeping late is no life threat." Blackbriar continued, starting to walk with Mothpaw towards camp. "I know Skipperface is your mentor and you care about her, but she's older than you, and she should already know to look out for danger, especially for others in her clan, and especially for you, Mothpaw, her apprentice. Some mistakes have greater costs than others, and we need to be sure that no great risk is at hand when making a decision, whatever that may be."

Blackbriar looked at Mothpaw and said, "for putting you in danger of possibly wolves? Yes, she will. I really wish you'd had said something to her so that all of this could be avoided."

"No Mothpaw, you did nothing wrong." Blackbriar started. Skipperface took the opportunity to go back to camp quietly. "It's Skipperface who's the mouse-brain here. You only did what you were told which is good, but sometimes it's us that are wrong, but that's okay, none of us have to be right all the time. That's just how life is. However, Skipperface has no excuse for this, she practically put you in danger for no reason. Now, take your mossball and let's go back to camp."

Blackbriar rolled her eyes as Skipperface lay motionless, not sure what to do. Before another moment passed by, Blackbriar came out of the bush she was hiding in, making it seem like she was heading from camp. As she walked towards Mothpaw she said, "There you are Mothpaw, I've been looking for you. What are you doing out here? And why are you alone?"

Blackbriar and Skipperface managed to catch up to Mothpaw, though they stayed hidden from him. They split up, keeping watch for wolves on both sides of Mothpaw. Though, Skipperface wasn't paying attention to the stick in front of her, and she stepped on it, making a loud crack sound. Uh oh, she thought, I think I just gave myself away. Well, guess it's time for another explanation.

(Again split it in half bc got too carried away lol)

"What in StarClan did you do this time Skipperface? I hope you didn't just send your apprentice out of camp." Skipperface winced as these words came out of Blackbriar, then said, "Well, I kind of did... I encouraged Mothpaw to change the elders' bedding but I forgot about the whole getting the moss out of camp part. Let's just talk about this later and focus on keeping my apprentice safe." Blackbriar gave Skipperface a look of disappointment. "You're really pushing my limits here, you know that right? How could you even forget-" "Let's just save the scold for later, please... I know how mouse-brained I am." Skipperface interrupted.

(Got too carried away writing so splitting it in half again)

Skipperface forgot that you had to go out of camp to get moss. Fox dung! She thought, I need to follow him, but first I'll quickly get Blackbriar to come with me, hopefully she's not too busy. She briefly browsed around the camp and caught sight of Blackbriar. She was talking to her apprentice, Sootpaw. Skipperface hated to interrupt them, but this was important. She trotted to Blackbriar, and when Blackbriar caught Skipperface's gaze, she could tell something was up. Skipperface motioned to follow, and they headed out of camp.

"I admire your confidence, Mothpaw." Skipperface commented with a soft giggle. "And yes, the elders would appreciate some prey. Good luck brave warrior, I hope you'll be able to change the bedding with courage." Skipperface ended jokingly, in a deep serious tone.

(Oh ok lol. Also not exactly. I'm pretty sure it's only a punishment if the apprentice does it daily, along with them not able to go on patrols and stuff [Same goes for changing the bedding]. I mean, realistically, we can't just let the ticks suck out all the elders' blood.)

Skipperface chuckled. "Well, someone ought to do it at somepoint. Could you imagine what it's like to have itchy ticks all over you all day, and you can't even do anything about it? Well, I can tell you that's what will happen when you become an elder. Believe me, Yellowstream complains about it all the time, well besides his prickly bedding."

(I thought you wanted Skipperface to be your mentor? If not I can change it to who you want. Btw I was thinking Blackbriar would be Sootpaw's mentor. Just thought you should know.)

Skipperface felt a bit bad for the apprentice. "It's alright Mothpaw, I'm sure you could do something to keep you busy. Maybe you could do the elder's ticks or change their bedding?"

Skipperface glanced around the camp where she saw anxiety. She didn't even know if anyone would go on a patrol for the rest of the day. "Well, I don't know, Mothpaw, you already missed your chance today with the border patrol since you needed your sleep. You'll be lucky if I can take you tomorrow, since I'm guessing Mintface and Cootstar would want to lessen the amount of patrols going out and potentially encountering wolves."
