* Hollypaw stopped what she was saying and looked over to Mothpaw. Oddpaw also looked over and said, "Oh, hi Mothpaw! How are you?" *Hollypaw looked at the ground. She didn't feel like talking to anyone else.*

*Echocloud sighed* "I don't know. I think I did alright. But then he got scared of the thunderpath, and I didn't know what to do, so I just changed the subject." *Salemshine laid his tail on Echocloud's shoulder.* "hey, it's okay. This is your first time mentoring. You're doing great so far. But even if you think you're not, you'll get the hang of it soon enough." *Echocloud looked up at him gratefully.* "thank you, Salemshine."

*Echocloud hesitated near the camp entrance as she searched for Salemshine. She couldn't seem to see him, and thought he probably already went back to his twoleg nest.* "Echocloud! You're back!" *Echocloud jumped and turned to see Salemshine behind her.* "Salemshine! You nearly scared me to death!" *she said as she was calming herself down. Salemshine shifted his paws guiltily as he responded,* "Sorry, I'm just happy you're back. How was your first day mentoring?"

*Echocloud sighed.* "Yeah, me too... But anyway, I think you've earned a good rest. Let's head back to camp, then you can get some fresh-kill and head to your nest for the night." * She motioned at Mothpaw to follow with her tail as she started to walk towards camp.*

"Yes, the warrior said it was an accident. It is possible they'll want territory too. I just think something terrible happened there and it really took a toll on them. I don't know if it was about leafbear, or if their camp got destroyed, but I don't think they'd do this out of nowhere."

*Echocloud tried to recall what provoked StormClan.* "I'm not too sure, but I think it started with some prey crossing the border, and one of our warrior's caught it. A border patrol was nearby and saw the whole thing. The warrior gave the prey, but they've still been suspicious. I do know they've been making wild accusations like stealing herbs from their medicine supply. Not sure how that one came up, but we should try not to provoke a battle between us. Emberstar said he was even thinking of giving more prey as an offering. Yeah... no cat was happy about that."

"Yes, it is quite a strange scent, but at least it allows us to differentiate between us and them very easily during battle. We should be careful around these borders right now, though. The last gathering was filled with tension, we don't know when or if StormClan is planning to attack or finding a reason to." *Echocloud shivered as she remembered the looks all of StormClan was casting them. Especially Ashstar's hostile gaze towards Emberstar. It looked as if a fight could break out at any moment.*

It shouldn't take much longer." *Echocloud took Mothpaw to the last part of SootClan's territory, which seemed to be forest. But another scent came from the other side of SootClan's scent markers.* "This is the border between SootClan and StormClan. Up ahead is StormClan's territory. Now, because we both share the forest, it's pretty easy to forget where our borders lie, so we must be careful while hunting."

(I mean, not necessarily. The Clan leader will go there only if they need to speak to StarClan. But that's speaking from the books after the first series. I mean, it would be inconvenient for EVERY apprentice to go there so they can become a warrior.)
