Didn't want to get in the polemics hole either and, to be honest, the more we are on the sidelines, the better because this is the kind of situation where a wrong intervention could cause a misunderstanding and not precisely and easy one to get over with.
If you wanna know my POV, I'd avoid listening to rumours and wait until got a decent bunch of veridic evidences that reassure you they're reliable and guarantee your belief is correct before taking action, so you don't end up compromised by consequences if something goes wrong.
