I tried dying my hair and it looks like THIS.

I probably did it the idiotic newbie way, but i'm so confused WHY ARE ONLY THE ROOTS FULLY COLORED?? And the bottom side of my hair only too!! I did the coloring 2 TIMES, with max lotion i have no idea what's happening
AND WHY IS THE LOTION PURPLE NOW, IT WAS BEIGE AT FIRST??
