How do you find a displacement in a compasss scale or something, this is my assignment

1.John wake 10m north, 5m east, and 15m south

Question:what is the displacement

2.a whale moves 5km east, 2km west, and 4km east again.

And idk how to find the displacement, lol, I could either find it physically, by using a ruler that doing Yada Yada ya, or I could do a complex equation that’s called the “kinematic equation” or something, I seriously don’t know, I need fucking help.
