Palustris Sonaraptor

Echolocation and Sensory Perception: Since its vision is limited, imagine how crucial its echolocation is. It likely emits a series of clicks or high-pitched sounds, perhaps through specialized organs in its throat or even nostrils (which it can close underwater). These sounds bounce off objects in its environment, painting a sonic picture of its surroundings. The three eyes might primarily detect changes in light and shadow, helping it sense movement and potential threats or prey. It would also have sensitive receptors along its flanks, similar to a crocodile, to detect vibrations in the water. Hunting Behavior: It would be an ambush predator. It lies in wait, partially submerged amongst reeds and lily pads, using its camouflage to blend in. When prey (small dinosaurs, fish, early mammals) comes within range, it explodes from the water with surprising speed, using its powerful front legs to propel itself forward and its sharp teeth to seize its victim. It might even drag its prey underwater to drown them, similar to a crocodile. Social Behavior: Palustris Sonaraptor could be solitary creatures, only coming together to mate. Perhaps the males perform elaborate displays, using their tails to create ripples in the water and emitting complex patterns of clicks and calls to attract females. Life Cycle: Imagine the young Palustris Sonaraptor as almost entirely aquatic, resembling large tadpoles with developing forelimbs. As they mature, they gradually spend more time on land, their lungs developing and their gills receding.
