I think I know what to say to help with that
The Bible says we have 2 sides to us, the flesh and the spirit
Our flesh has the sinful nature and our spirit shares the same desires God has.
Both our flesh and spirit contradict eachother, which is why we get tempted to sin but the spirit is willing to resist sin.
You can weaken your flesh though, doing stuff that build your spirit up like praying to God, reading the Bible, (Btw, it's not supposed to be read in order)
and fasting &praying (<- most effective) will all build your spirit and weaken the flesh
And pretty much, rely on God's power, your own power won't deliver you from sin
This helped me alot regarding resisting temptation of my addictions especially lust.
