Dilophosaurus wetherilli (Michael Crichton’s Jurassic World) (Top 25% Ranking)

The fourth and final drawing from the JP Novel Carnivores art series is finally here! For the past month, i’ve been drawing four of the most iconic dinosaur from the Jurassic Park novels; Velociraptor, Tyrannosaurus, Carnotaurus, and finally the Nedry-killer itself. I have also updated the descriptions of each draeing so that they now show a few facts about each creature. Sorry this took so long, high school’s been getting in the way of a lot of things.
.
.
FACTS:

Height: 10 feet (3.5 meters)

Length: 23 feet (7 meters)

-While the other carnivores hold at least SOME resemblance to their movie counterparts, the Dilophosaurus is the exception, with it’s dimensions, coloration, scenes and even it’s venomous spit itself being or looking different in some way from the movie version

-Let’s talk venom. Dilophosaurus venom is comprised of 7 different enzymes and is known to cause paralysis, but while this venom resembles a black-green goo in the movie, in the novel it’s described as a white foaming substance that gives a tingling and burning sensation when touched. Both versions of the dinosaur store venom in throat sacks behind their bottom jaw and release it via two holes located under their tongues (we don’t see this in the movie due to the animatronic not working properly because of the weather when they tried filming)

-The novel Dilophosaurus is also known for having one of the weirdest plot holes in the franchise. A male and a female were seen doing a mating display. The thing is, Dilophosaurus doesn’t have any amphibian DNA in the novels, and if you know anything about JP, you’ll know that frog DNA was the reason some dinosaurs from the all-female population switched sexes and started mating in the first place. This is never addressed, and isn’t mentioned ever again.

-The directors of the Jurassic Park film sized down the Dilophosaurus and gave it a frill so people don’t confuse it with the raptors. Doesn’t make sense to me but yeah

-The Dilophosaurus in the novel are described as making a hooting sound, similar to an owl

-For more info i would recommend checking out the JP novels or researching on another website, as i don’t want to get into heavy spoilers
.
.

I cut out a large portion of the facts cause they turned into an all-out rant. I’ll just leave by saying there’s something new on the way and i hope you guys are doing well.
