Carnotaurus sastrei (Michael Crichton’s Jurassic World) (top 25% ranking)

The third drawing for the Jurassic Park novels art series is finally here! If you’e new to this art series, i’m basically drawing four of the most iconic carnivores from the JP novels to honor the original film’s 30th anniversary. Here we have carnotaurus, in my opinion one of the most unique dinosaurs from the entire franchise and probably my favorite dinosaurs from the second JP novel, with the Pachy coming in at second place

This took way longer than it ws supposed to. From getting ready for my first year of high school to visiting some relatives, i’ve been pretty busy. But hey at least a new JWE2 DLC is coming soon. Yes, something i’ve been waiting for all summer long, it finally arrived. It arrives EXACTLY on the FIRST F*CKING day i go back to SCHOOL…

And now for the next (and last) drawing of the series: come on, it’s pretty obvious at this point…that’s right, the Nedry killer himself…

FACTS:

Height: 7 feet (2 meters)

Length: 20 feet (7 meters)

-The Carnotaurus in the novel are smaller than even their real-life counterparts, which stood at up to 10 feet (3.5 meters) in height

-Unlike their prehistoric counterparts, the cloned Carnotaurus weren’t fast runners, and would instead rely on ambushing and quickly dispatching their prey

-The Carnotaurus in the novel also possess the ability to change their skin color similar to a chameleon or a cuttlefish, able to mimic shadows and even man-made patterns such as a chain-link fence. During the day, this highly advanced form of camouflage looked pretty shoddy, but at night, these guys were almost invisible, and couldn’t be noticed unless you really looked closely

-Because of their camouflaging abilities, the raptors and even the rexes were afraid to go near the Carnotaurus’ territory, especially at night

-Even though the camouflaging Carnotaurus are never seem in the films, they do show up in the Jurassic Park: The Lost World video game

Yeah one could even argue that the books are even better than the movies! After reading the novels i was a bit sad after realizing how much unused material there really is (won’t go into specifics cause i don’t want to spoil anything)
